This is what will happen. Every Tuesday the fixtures will be posted up, from then to 12:00AM Saturday you will be able to make or change your predictions. I will save all the predictions at around 8PM - if you change your predictions between 8 and 12 then please notify me or the change will not be included. I will also send round a reminder PM in case anybody forgets. Once the deadline is reached I will copy all predictions to Word so as to prevent cheating. As soon as I get the chance after each match I will update this.

Ok, I know there have been some of these in the past on GT, and I believe there is a website as well for something similar to my idea but I feel we should have our own GT one.

What Happens?

Each week I will post up the premierleague fixtures for the coming weekend. You are to predict the scores and scorers for each match. You will get a certain amount of points for getting the result (who wins, or if it's a draw), and the goals scored by each teamright.
There will be an overall leaderboard and a monthly leaderboard representing who's got the most points.

Rules

- You must post your predictions by 12:00AM Saturday morning. All predictions will be saved at 9PM the evening before - if you change your prediction between those 2 time please mention it or it will not be included.
- You may only make one prediction per match.
- You may play one joker each round; you will select one match and you will get double the points for that round.

Points Scoring

You get the result wrong: 0 points
You get the result wrong but one of the scores right: 1 point
You get the result right but no scores right: 2 point
You get the result right and 1 team scores right: 3 points
You guess a perfect score: 6 points

When there is a League Cup or FA Cup match all your points will be doubled. There will be no joker in these matches. And we won't start doing FA Cup matches until the third round.

Also we will not do scorers or assists (yet) or European matches (Ever) because I believe these would complicate it.

-_-_-_-_-_-_-_-_-_-_-_-_-_-_-_-_-_-_-_-_-_-_-_-_-_-_-_-_-_-_-_-_-_-_-_-_-_-_-_-_-_-_-_-_-_-_-_-_-

If you have any questions about the above or suggestions to improve the system then feel free to say.

Yeah count me in!

Tip for you guys though - I'm going to the Man United match tomorrow and United never seem to play well when I go to OT to see them.

Just thought that might affect your predictions

Apologies for the double post but I've been thinking and I reckon that the scorers bit should be dropped, makes things over complicated, need to make it as simple as possible or else you'll get bored and the game will be boring.

How about 1 point for Correct Result
And 3 points for correct scoreline.

Just a suggestion though.

Agreed I think this makes it a lot more sense and would be able to be done by more people easily.

You could if you wanted to make it a little more interesting by letting everyone play a JOKER on a match of their choice each week where they get double points on that match.

Again just an idea, but I vote for the scorer guessing to be dropped too.

that could be a lot better for all the liverpool fans as i would say torres every week but he plays once evry 3 game on an average

I'm in, on two conditions:

1. Drop Scorers, thats just complicated and not worth it.
2. Not just Premiership, SPL included.

im not doing SPL as the only thing i know about scottish league is Celtic and Rangers fight for title and hearts sometimes have an outside chance
all the other teams are nothing to me

Is anyone actually going to put any predicitons forward?

After looking through the posts I've decided to take out scorers (I myself quite like guessing them, adds more interest ) as they seem quite unpoular.

This won't start until I get enough people participating in it. Depending on how popular it is, depends on when it starts. There isn't enough time to predict before this weekend though. Although it could start next weekend.

And despite Wee's suggestion (I don't know if he was joking or not ) the SPL won't be included, as it would make things too complicated. I myself would like to have League 1 included (Leeds + my hometown - Swindon) but I expect very few people follow that league.

And MilkyMalky I quite like that suggestion, I think it would liven it up a bit.

We'll wait until we get enough people first, this is only the first day, we need to give other people some time to read the topic.

Going to use these fixtures to test out the points scoring For you if that's alright.
Birmingham City 2 v 2 Wigan Athletic
Chelsea 3 v 1 Manchester City
Manchester United 1 v 0 Middlesbrough
Reading 3 v 2 Newcastle United
Sunderland 0 v 0 Fulham

Mainly doing this because I can see a major flaw with your scoring...

Example) Prediction 1 - Team A 2 v 0 Team B
Prediction 2 - Team A 0 v 1 Team B

Score - Team A 5 v 1 Team B

Now Prediction 1 would get 1 point for guessing the right score whereas Prediction 2 would get 2 points for being completely off the mark.

Did that make sense?

Perfectly.

I think we should just stick to an underlying principle with this - you only score points if you guess the correct result (home win, away win or draw) in the first place.

If you do, you get 1 point.

But then if you get the result right, and get a team's score right you could get an additional 2 points.

And if you got both teams correct you instead get an additional 5 points.

So to summarise:

You get the result wrong: 0 points
You get the result right but no scores right: 1 point
You get the result right and 1 teams score right: 3 points
You guess a perfect score: 6 points

Sounds simple and manageable to do it that way.

Yeah that sounds better.

Still think we should stick with a simple 1 point for correct result and 3 points for correct scoreline.

But as long as it's the same for everyone shouldn't cause too much of a problem.

Agreed. I guess I haven't thought this through

And could all of you who have already joined try to get some mates on GT to join in?

You could always just run it and every week if someone wants to have a go they can. Rather than making it people 'join' just leave it open to everyone, then just update the league table on your opening post.

The reason I'd rather get enough people is so everyone is on even footing. Say there was just 3 or 4 people doing it every week no-one else would have a chance to catch up.

"i suppose were not doing it this week then?"

Lol, seeing as you need to put in your predictions before 12:00 this morning then yes it seems that we're not doing it this week.
