Nintendo wii £500 by Christmas?
Post: #1 - 30 Oct 2007 19:48
I keep hearing stories that Nintendo Wii consoles will be £500 by Christmas. They seem to be sold out everywhere and the places that are selling are doing so with at least a £100 premium on top of list price. Does anyone know where I can get one before christmas?

Nintendo claimed a couple of months back that they would be back on track with stock levels by xmas but its not looking likely. Still, I can't believe people would actually pay £500, maybe double but not that much.

Looks like the problem is only going to get worse until Christmas. All the big etailers are now increasing their prices and expect pricing to go over £300 very soon.

Its times like these that make me glad I preordered mine and have had it since December 8th 2006.

Tbh its looks like you should get in quick as prices do appear to be going up all the time. Even though it might be strange to buy now for Christmas, you'll probably save yourself 50 quid for your trouble!

Or wait for Christmas Sales, it's bound to go down tbh and a couple of months won't make a difference to your life really.

I seriously doubt there will be a Wii Christmas Sale mate. If retailers have Wii shortages that pushes prices up not down. It makes more sense to buy now rather than wait for the inevitable hike at Christmas when demand is high but supply is low.

I meant January apologies.

Well I suppose it would seem so to some people - especially if you're used to more traditional consoles, and prefer things not to change.

It's only a rip off for those who can't afford it, simple as. If you wanted one desperately, I'm sure you'd find the money to fund the purchase.

I think its more than that though. Its about what you're getting for your money.
Sure if you rack up the specs, the PS3 is really an absolute bargain. But most people just see it as an over-priced games machine. Thats why it isn't selling. People can't look past the fact it is essentially a games console, and then look at the competition and go with that and save £100s.

I fully agree. If people realized that Sony were making no profit whatsoever from selling them at the price they're currently at, then they'd realize that they're getting more for their money in the long run.
Although if I had the cash, I'd buy a Wii. Purely for the humour aspect as opposed to the games currently available/being released for it. The likes of Super Mario Galaxy, MP3, Super Smash Bros Brawl, etc just don't appeal to me whereas I could quite happily spend my time playing WiiSports till my arms dropped off.

It probbaly is since I my friends prefer the xbox 360 more. I am in agony over the fact that my xbox 360 is broken. Why do all the games haft to chnage consoles ok it mkaes people want this game more I think it should stay on the same console. (I basically wish I could play halo3
