So i can play most games out the orange box, but for some reason portal keeps crashing on me. Any ideas why?

I haven't got the game, but I've played it loads on my friends 360, and we've never encountred any problems with it.
I presume you've checked the obvious like a dirty disc.
If its a problem with your copy, its a shame cos it is a good little game, I was very impressed with it.

Your PC isn't good enough?

If it can play the others, it can play Portal.
Anyway, I presume each game appears as a seperate entry in your Steam "My Games" tab?
Right Click "Portal" > Properties > Local Files > "Defrag Cache Files" & "Verify Integrity of game cache"
Try it after that.
