'Do yourself a favour, look up Andy Priaulx before running your mouth around here again. '
Mate you dont even know what the award is lol! You just keep going on about their achievements, It's about personality, hence the awards name. 'SPORTS PERSONALITY OF THE YEAR'
and after looking up Andy Priaulx yes he has achieved alot but personality? I dont think so, alot of people have probaly never heard of him. The award unfortunately usually goes to whoever has been in the media most.

Hooray, people seem to be getting it! So, the reason people get nominated is because of the media. Lesson? BBC SP Award goes to whoever gets in the paper most, not who necessarily deserves it most.

'Calzaghe did deserve it tho'
Theres no doubting that, however the media controls the result at the end of the day, the vote is pointless, the decision will of already been made weeks before the votes even started, its the same for all award ceremonies and reality tv shows too. Its just part of a very clever marketing plan.

Wow, look how negative you guys all are about this.
Its talk like that that almost makes this topic redundant in the first place surely?
If its all down to the media and is pre-determined, then why discuss it at all? What the point?

Calzaghe has been best boxer in Britain for years and deserved the award, As for lewis hamilton he didnt deserve to come second as he was in the best car and in poll position with two races remaining and still threw it away.

i see where people are coming from on the success argument and andy priaulx but surely calzaghes 10 year reign as champion eclipses that of andys? I know its about the year not the career but he couldnt have had a better year imo, kessler was a huge fight for him. I dont understand why he doesnt deserve it? or why priaulx deserves it more?
