I hate health regen in games, FPSs were good in the age of Goldeneye and Perfect Dark where it rewarded your skill and flexibility. If you were stupid enough to get shot in those games, you paid the price permanently with lower health. None of this hide round the corner until I magically become fully healed again rubbish.

. that was truly the golden age of splitscreen, in fact it was the golden age of GAMING. because let's face it the ps1, N64 and dreamcast were all incredible

Yeah, but if you got shot in war, you've still been shot. If you sit behind a wall to take a breather it doesn't negate the fact there's a piece of lead in you and a load of blood about the place.
And by modern gaming, I'm presuming you mean this generation?

I wouldnt go that far. Sure, its a great multiplayer, but itys SP is nowhere near as long to be dubbed the *Best Game Ever*. That, I feel, goes to LoZ: Ocarina of Time. Although my personal favourite is either LoZ: Link to the Past, or FFVII.
As milky said, possibly of this generation(so far), but even that is debatable, ie. GTAVI, Bioshock, Gears of War etc.

I wouldnt go that far. Sure, its a great multiplayer, but itys SP is nowhere near as long to be dubbed the *Best Game Ever*. That, I feel, goes to LoZ: Ocarina of Time. Although my personal favourite is either LoZ: Link to the Past, or FFVII.

in my opinion the best game this generation (so far)is a tie between metroid prime 3 and bioshock. both were amazing experiences. with halo 3 as a runner up . although at the end of this gen i have a strong feeling it will be resident evil 5.

if your talking about callofduty5 i wouldn't worry about the weapon thing: it's WW2 and variety is desperate enough anyway: you get a rifle and a submachine gun. excitement on a stick.
