In case anyone cares, the actual chance of winning the jackpot in the National Lottery in the UK is 1 in 13,983,816. Which seems silly to me because if the jackpot is going to be a big un like 30mil or somert, you can just go out and buy those 14 million odd different tickets and are guaranteed to win with a big profit.
Oh yea, grats and all...

But in order to buy them you actually need the £14,000,000 to begin with in order to buy the tickets... it's a flawed idea.

What if you're already a multi-millionaire with 15mil in the bank?

Aha, you're right... maybe I'll try that one day when I'm a billionaire but until then... oh sh*t, I can buy a lottery ticket and I haven't even bought one yet... =/

ah... how we've missed noz's deep in depth conversations. though the chances of winning this are obviously more than the lottery.

It means "How many combinations are there when you select 6 from 49 different variations?" (ie choosing the lottery numbers). Theres some complex maths behind it, but the calculator does it all for you. The little "nCr" button if you're interested
