An Arsenal Walkthrough (First season)

After buying CM 2006 today I decided to start as Arsenal. First thing was to look at my news after joining. I was expected to qualify for Europe this season, via league or cup. I then had a quick glance through my squad and decided that I needed a new goalie as my best one (Lehmann) had poor handling skills. I also decided I could strengthen my LB/RB (both had poor marking skills), my CM (Ljungberg has poor stamina and dribbling) and my second striker, Bergkamp.

I hit the Transfer Market with £16m to spend and searched for a decent GK under £2.5m. A number of options became available. The most expensive goalie was Charles Itandje, who had remarkable abilities. Other options were Francesco Toldo and Ricardo, as well as Niemi. I decided to bid for Itandje, who was by far the youngest and probably the best. I decided to enquire for him first, In the hope of a cheap price. Next I searched for some decent full backs. Again I used the filter to find some decent ones. I also only searched for players under £2.5m. One player stood out, a free agent called Ramirez. At 35 he was quite old but I decided experience could be useful. I approached for him. I decided to leave with him, and leave Cole in LB. My next search was for a CM. Only 4 players appeared after using the filter, all in their 30’s. I decided to go in for a bid for Rivaldo as his experience was excellent and his attributes were fantastic. He was £0.75m so I put in a slightly higher bid of £1.2m. I looked next for a decent striker. I used the filter to search for cheap players with above 90 in shooting accuracy and 80 in power. My search brough up 5 players, 4 of which were in their 30’s, Amoroso, Shearer, Brattbakk and Hasselbaink. But the most expensive player there was a 23 year old Portuguese striker by the name of Bareiro. He cost £2.3m. I enquire for him too. I then made a final search for all decent teenagers. One player hit my eye, João Moutinho, an 18 year old midfielder for Sporting. I made a loan bid for him. I then searched for players up to 20 and it picked up another talented midfielder, David Jones of NEC. I also enquired for him. I also enquired for Marko Muslin, a 20 year old defender and I sent out Steve Rowley and Gilles Grimandi to scout two talented teenage strikers, Steven Defour and Vladimír Peška.

I next looked at my upcoming friendlies. I arragned a friendly with Genk to check out Steven Defour. I had a look at my formation next and decided to attempt using the following one. I am going to use my Pre-Season to search for a decent formation.



I also switched my mentality to attacking and my passing to direct.

I decided to leave It like that and I pressed continue.

One question... Why didn't you sign Alvaro Chacon Saborio, £50,000 and he can score 60+ goals a season?

Franklin Salas is much better and Centeno is a wonder CM. Trust me, I know, what I'm doing.

Muaha! You dare to reject the Bandit's advice... meh, he's a money maker as well. Just wait a few seasons and you'll soon see exactly what I mean.

I do know. When I was testing the game (before it was released) I signed Chacon + Salas and their prices rose to nearly £20m in one year. Also Chacon does not appear on the search...

I am guessing that you have not decided to use Club Benefactor and i think that is a wise choice as it poses a challenge. I always use Club Benefactor as im rubbish at being a manager but oh well.

I agree with Bandit that Chacon is a brilliant striker but with Forevers talent at finding and scouting younger players he just doesn't need him.

He does come up on the search but only if you type in Saborio.

Rivaldo and Shearer both did an excellent job for my Bolton team, and i put in a similair offer to yours for Rivaldo.

I played Rivaldo in a Forward Position behind the two Strikers and that worked wonders for me with my formation and he scored 36 goals last season i believe it was.

Anyway looking forward to your next installments and its just ironic that you posted this as i have just started a new game on CM06 with Arsenal and just minimised the game to look at Gamestracker without having a chance to do anything.

Oh sorry i didn't realise thats what you ment, well the guide is for Arsenal so i guess England premiership.

I did the major countries, England, Spain, Holland, Germany and Italy. I also ticked Brazil as there is tonnes of major talent there and Argentina likewise. I also ticked Scotland, because I like to know how Gretna get on
