To have rich Sims with nice houses, go to the cheat menu and enter FREEALL & MIDAS. Then go to Play the Sims and make a new family. Move this family into an empty lot by buildozing an old one. Now when they have moved into the property build your house as big as desired. However, if you build the house before you have moved the people in, it won't work because they people won't have enough money once the house is finished.
