This is great. Smashing things, breaking things, burning things, and taking the mick out of every thing. My sort of TV! Anyone else watch this?
Also, did anyone watch the Science series? That was funny.

9pm I think, or you can watch Discovery +1 at 10pm.

It's much better than Brainiac, they have more money to throw away on blowing things up!

Brainiac's explosions were more put on than actual explosive properties- like pyrotechnical displays. As for Myth Busters, that is a great program. Trying all the strange things you see in movies in real life to see if they are possible. Like Coca Cola can be used as a coolant in a car radiator if you lose all the water...

the science program was the best in brainiac
but the explotions were crap
TNT for exaple, in the wheel arch will send it on one side, wheel will come of, and the explotion will not come from the inside the motor

The new Brainiac DVD will be in the shops around 18th October - featuring the best of Series 1 and about 20 minutes of unseen extra material (including Experiments what didn't work).

Also - a new series of Brainiac starts on Sky One on 8th August - 8 shows, Thursday nights at 8.00.

Experiments featured; what happens if you inhale helium and blow on a wind instrument (will the note be higher?)...which is faster Brainiac or gunpowder?...if you walk around in garlic will it make your breath smelly?...is thermite the most powerful chemical in the world?...which is the scariest fairground ride...how to win at Laser Quest...what is the best way to eat peas...and spaghetti...where is the most painful part of the body to pull out a hair...which is Britain's strickiest sandwich spread etc etc etc

Also new features: Granny Brainaic, Brainiac golf, Diana Ross and her chain reaction, Domestic Disasters, Break or Bounce, Will it fizz or will it bang...

And old favourites: I can do science me, Dear Jon, Tickle's Teasers, celebs on Helium etc etc etc...

Enjoy!

1) The note would not be any higher as the helium affects the vocal cords; wind instruments produce the sound from the vibration of the reed

2)Most probably gunpowder if the mixture is correct (ie the perfect 75:10:15 ratio). However, it depends on the setup of the experiment- is it a trail of powder, how coarse are the grains etc.

3)Yes, garlic rubbed on any part of your body will produce a smell on your breath. I am unsure as to the science behind this cos I dont do biology, but it is true

4) What does 'powerful' mean? Thermite is so strong that, when the reaction begins, it produces enough heat to melt a hole from the top of your car bonnet, all the way through the engine, to the ground. However, there are many other chemicals out there with various other 'powerful' purposes. For example, acids so strong that they have a negative pH. Anyone here seen the 'Alien' films? There are chemicals in real life that have similar effects to the alien's blood, although slower than in the movies

Now that my lecture is over, do you work for Brainiac or something?!

And I know why... it was one I was unsure about but thought I would go for it anyway! Its cos of the density of helium, isnt it?
