Gamestracker game servers, Game Modifications forum.

It'd be nice if GT had servers for some of the more popular multiplayer games; like CS or Garrys Mod etc. That'd mean clans and stuffs which would be awesome.
Also, unrelated, what about a mod forum? Somewhere to discuss (or showcase) custom stuff, like maps or skins.

Servers would be quite nice, although I don't know if the cost of running them would make it worthwhile, esp in games like BF2 where servers are incredibly expensive!
Dunno about an entire forum dedicated to mods though. Maybe just a thread to show them off?

It would be a very good idea, but it would fail in practice because the place is full of smacktards who think FM is the best thing since Pong <_<

Its more a case of bandwidth than hardware. If the same bandwidth was used that the main GT servers use then depending on how many games were running it might slow down the main GT web site, in which case we would be losing money.
And obviously were not going to buy extra bandwidth just to provide a free gaming service

Of course not. That would be folly.

Depending on the amount of people who would agree to (and the quality of said people... Ahem), I would probably pay for use of the servers. As long as it wasn't a bloody subscription, just an initial fee.

If I had any money (sodding capitalism's fault) I would pay.

OK lets find out then...
a) Who's interested
b) What games do you want these server(s) to run
c) What's a reasonable price to charge for an initial fee.
If we get enough interest we'll do it.

OMG!!! i agree with Twisted on something
Well done to GamesTracker for atleast thinking about this idea

I would be Interested
I would like the servers to run Swat4 and CS(hopefully all of them e.g 1.6,source,etc).
Im not really sure about the fee though because i would mainly play Swat4 but its not a really popular game around GamesTracker.

C) Not Too fussed over how much. I will be 16 in a while and should be able to get a job to pay for it.

a) I'd be interested in this.
b) Counter Strike: Source personally for me, but I'm sure others will be mentioned.
c) Not too sure to be honest... depends on the cost of the server.

b) Counter Strike Source mainly
c) Depends on who's hosting it really 'cos they all vary in price and quality.

Seeing as CS Source seems a popular choice, I may try to get it, for the forum.
Post: #18 - 16 Dec 2006 14:43
Yaystickey.
I'd be interested, for CS Source, COD (1 and 2), and Garry's Mod.
I'd be happy to pay around £10-£15 for it, too.
