Gears of War - Hints and Tips

Could somebody give me some help with GOW as I kind of suck. And it's not that I'm crap at shooters as I'm really good on RSV.

I seem to shoot someone 1000 times with the standard machine gun, then they take a few shots and I'm dead. Solution?

I often get into cover, lean around to shoot and the millisecond I do my head gets blown off by a sniper/torque bow. Any way to counter this?

Are you sure you're not sticking your head out far too long? What you should try is unloading a few rounds into em until they get to cover and then attempt to flank with the help of a nade if nessesary (sp)

i have personally finished this game on insane and there is no way they are that good you have to stick your head out for at least 5 secconds for them to take your head off with the sniper, but they can get the torque off in 1-2 secconds if your not carefull.

the best way is to blind fire them a bit untill they duck behind teh cover them selves then order your teamates to attack (left button and y i believe) then rush up with shot gun or anything really. But unless you stick your head out for really long periods of time it shouldn't happen.

Or just play co-op and that way your team mate can revive you.

Unless they are complete and utter n00bs, as sadly seems the case. Shame your AI team mates can't revive you. Tis really irritating in Gears and RSV!

Exactly.

As for the Torque bow, if you see them charging it up, just stay in cover until they release the arrow. You can hear whens its charged as it hums and they have a bright glowing ball in front of them.

The same goes for snipers. Wait for them to fire and then pop out of cover. Snipers are pussies and only take a few shots to die, even on insane.

...and you can always tell when a Boomer is gonna strike can't you?
