I got this game purely because I thought it would be a nice break from GOW, GRAW and R6:Vegas but I'm finding it has soooo much more depth than I was expecting. Im just trying to look after my pinatas but they keep eating each other. I dont want people to spell out ways to get more pinatas in my garden or anything as it seems a game that is about experimentation... any vague hints or tips that will guide me to getting some bloody peace in my garden would be lovely

A big hint is to take advantage of the fact that you can have several different gardens and your money and gardener level carry across to each garden.
Have several different styles of garden, one water based, one grass based, one full of trees. That way you can keep certain types of Pinata in different gardens to avoid fights and fueds. It also makes it easy to breed them when they aren't trying to tear each other to bits.
Other than that you can fence off certain Pinata that keep getting in fights.
I sectioned off the Raisants because they kept fighting with the Buzzlegums. I also section of the Whirlm's because the fudgehogs kept attacking them.

Yeah, the original one you have gets bigger on two occasions. But if you kept using that one garden you'd have to landscape it several times in order to attract all the different types of Pinata. Its much easier to have a few different styles of garden on different saves. You can just hop between gardens as your stats, money, and gardener level are saved on your profile, not the individual garden.
