Go get the guide man, with this game it's invaluable.
As far as stuff like "find the map" read the booklet. It's all right there.

main place is in the imperial city market place most of the shops are around there altho there is normally a few in all major towns

loads of ways, steal stuff and sell it on, do quests, go exploring and sell items u find, gamble on the arena, etc

Exploring caves/forts and stuff is the quickest way to make $$, the best way to get good armor and weapons too.

Dnt tackle the oblivion gates untill your at least 5th level, The beasties in there will just waste you . I didnt start the main quest untill I was 25th level.
Did you ever get a guide? I swear it's almost necessary for this game.
Practice your alchemy skill as often as you can (you need to equip at least a mortal & pestle) the poisins and potions you can make are way better than the ones you can buy.
