What happens when you shut it? How do you shut it? What do you get when you are in there [any cool armor or wepons ect.] or anything else you think i should know about would be great. Thankss!

To shut it you will need to get to the top of the main tower and grab the sigil stone. This will kick you out of oblivion automatically and close the gate. Aside from anything you may pick up along the way, you will be rewarded with the sigil stone, this can be used to magically enhance armour or weapons.

Mushu1942 knows his stuff, besides what he said don't go before 5-6th level, the beasties in there are brutal at low levels.
collect all the alchemy ingredients you can. really nasty toxins can be had.
I didn't tackle a gate (on my main save) till the 35th level, there's no rush.

Too true. I charged in like Rambo in a loincloth at the first available opportunity and ended up in a world of hurt.

..I hit it at about level 3 or 4. It can be done, but you learn some harsh lessons in the process.

I went in the first gate lv 1 didn't hav too many problems
been going round closing some of the others tried doing 1 after the other very very bad idea (4got to repair items)

Repair all the time,
make potions whenever you can,
the poisons are the way & the light.
Collect all the body parts you can for potions and stash them somewhere. Keep an Alchemy desk there. The shack in Imperial city works great. The one in Skingrad (Desk in the upper bedroom) is the shizzle.
Alchemy if used right really gives you an unfair advantage while playing within the rules.
