Valve cans The Black Box
Post: #1 - 21 May 2007 16:19
Valve has decided not to bother with The Black Box, which would have allowed PC gamers to buy Half-Life 2: Episode Two, Portal and Team Fortress 2 without having to pay for unneeded copies of Half-Life 2 and Episode One.
"We're going to have one package, The Orange Box, available on the PC (US$ 49.99) as well as the 360 and PS3 (US$ 59.99)," Valve's Doug Lombardi told IGN. The Orange Box will still contain all five products, but PC owners will get three separate Steam product codes - one for the new games, one for Half-Life 2, and one for Episode One.
eurogameri really hate valve

Meh, fine by me. I'm sure some people will be gutted, but i'm gonna have to get it all for the 360 anyway ('specially as i haven't played epi 1 yet anyway). Is CS : S on the 360 version?

Same. Half-Life 2 The Orange Box (aka Episode 2) comes with Half-Life 2, Episode 1, Episode 2, Portal and Team Fortress 2.

But it's only now that it's pretty much confirmed that you can buy it alone. Pre-orders were for the Orange Box only and Valve were being donkey's by not saying you would be able to buy it alone!

lol and people couldnt use there brains which are far superior to valves to realise that if they kept checking the steam store you could buy tf2 on its own when it was released =]

How?! It costs $50, which, thanks to a poor American economy, means we get it for about £25, maybe just over once tax has been added, but thats like a couple of dollars at most

Probably looking at around £30 for The Orange Box on Steam. I paid just over £17 (incl Tax) for Ep 2.
