Manufacturers Description
Gunstar Heroes, one of the most critically acclaimed 2D games of all time, is finally receiving a sequel, and it's being developed by Treasure, the legendary team responsible for the original.
Red and Blue, the stars of Gunstar Super Heroes, must once again keep a stone of great power from falling into the hands of an evil empire intent on resurrecting the God of Ruin. Both characters take on the same adventure using different paths, effectively creating two unique play-through experiences. And depending on the chosen difficulty level, the story changes, making for a total of 6 different story paths. Using four different types of weaponry - Rapid Fire, Machine Gun, Laser, and Explosive - players will tackle six wildly inventive levels and take on gigantic bosses that fill the entire Game Boy Advance screen.
Intricate platforming, precision gunplay and brilliant visuals combine to create a revelatory experience for newcomers and a major gaming milestone for hardcore fans. This is Treasure doing what they do best, and they've clearly had a lot of fun during the game's development process. Playful references abound, such as the appearance of an original Gunstar Heroes level beautifully retooled, After Burner music playing during an aerial sequence, mini-bosses from classic SEGA Genesis games popping up midgame, and a bevy of other fan-tailored treats.
