Kohan: Immortal Sovereigns is a real-time fantasy-strategy game for up to eight players. Set in the mystical world of Khaldun, it allows players to take on the role of a Kohan, a race of immortals. They were once the ruling power of the world, but have seen their culture and society destroyed by a series of cataclysms. The player must come to grips with the Kohans' lost glory, their current hardships, and their imminent destiny. It is the goal of the player to solve the riddle of his or her race's destruction and return it to its former glory.
The player of Kohan will be required to use a blend of strategy, tactics, and resource management to create a successful kingdom. Most of the game's emphasis is on managing the military force that, if constructed and deployed properly, will bring victory to the player. Exploration of the world and learning the story of the Kohan race will also take prominence. The player will use Kohan heroes to search out the clues of the race's ancient decline, and will learn from the past to prepare for the future.

Players will learn the story of the Kohan in the campaign mode of the game. In Kohan, players can play a basic tutorial, an advanced tutorial, a full-blown campaign, and play with up to seven other players over the Internet or via a LAN. Kohan will also come with a map editor, complete with a random map generator that will allow users to create and customize their own maps, allowing for endless replayability.
