Manufacturers Description
Zeus--Master of Olympus is a God game in every sense of the word, featuring the appearance of many Greek gods. For you, it's a chance to engage in some serious city building, meaning the game has something to offer SimCity fans out there as well as Age Of Empires (AOE) and Cultures veterans.
Put the effort into the manual and tutorials and a great cross between SimCity and AOE emerges, with tactical strategy elements rearing their head when you've angered a god and must placate, fight them or clean up the damage done to your city. Attracting one god or another can result in ancillary benefits for your city in terms of the type of essential minerals or foods that can be mined or grown.
The corresponding chief foe of the 12 starring gods will also take the chance to attack and six heroes can be drafted in to repel their threat if they can--studying a little Greek mythology would be a great help to this aspect of the game.
Months of your life will fade away as you become the mayor of your own Greek City circa 800BC, and you will evolve the original structure you built as the story unfolds. Be prepared for some of the 180-page manual's storytelling style to grate. If you are a Sim fan, this is SimGreekGod--treat it like one of that trilogy, it will require that level of time to enjoy it. However, if you aren't looking for a SimCity-esque style game, then Age Of Empires is more quickly accessible to the newcomer and just as addictive. --Kenneth Henry
