Everyone has played the game Call of Duty 2 whether they have a XBOX 360 or not. Why? Because, every nearly game shop with a playable XBOX 360 inside (HMV, Game etc.) , had Call of Duty 2 on it and if you haven't played on it either because you don't think it's good enough or you just can't be bothered, then you are missing out on quite a lot.
The game is based on World War II and you have to kill the Germans and do the tasks in order to complete the missions. Judging by the description there, you would think Call of Duty 2 was a let down and just like any of the other World War II games, but believe me. You haven't played a World War II game till you have played Call of Duty 2.
The first thing you will notice about Call of Duty 2 is the excellent graphics. Surely, some of the best you will see on a games console and if the PlayStation 3 can produce graphics better than these, then they must look perfect as they are that good.
You can do all sorts in the game, from jumping over barracks to crawling through gaps and they all come in useful against the Germans.
Shooting is easy but can take a bit of getting used to with the XBOX 360's so called "dodgy" controller but once you get used to it you will never want to put it down.
One major let down is that every level feels restricted as it's just one big path and your men always show you the way when sometimes you want to work it out yourself, so maybe a bit more free-roam would make it better.
The modes are nothing unusual with there being "easy", "medium" and "hard" modes but the "hard mode's" famous name is Veteran which is where the real war starts as it is really challenging and gives players the ultimate war feel.
In past games, men wouldn't really effect the enemy and you would be left to kill them all but due to the XBOX 360's power, they do actually do something and it takes a lot of the pressure off you, especially on Veteran Mode.
Though the achievements may be hard and challenging having to complete the game on Veteran Mode, it's one of the only XBOX 360 games that you actually feel you've worked very hard to get the full 1000 GamerScore.
Overall for Call of Duty 2 on the XBOX 360:
Graphics: 9.5 - I can't give any game's graphics a perfect ten but one look at this game and you'll be blown away by the stunning effects and graphics.
Gameplay: 9 - Some of the best gameplay you'll ever see but some levels do feel restricted. Compared to the first Call of Duty, Call of Duty 2 is a God.
Lifespan: 7 - Online mode and Veteran Mode may keep you entertained but it's not enough to keep you playong the game for a long time.
Online/Multiplayer: 8 - Very good after the patch imrpoved it but it can get boring at long plays.
Sound: 9 - With Surround Sound on, you really get the World War II feel.
Overall: 9 - Call of Duty 2 brings the best out of the XBOX 360 and surely one of the best titles.
This game was so good and popular that a Game Of The Year Edition was made with new maps, walkthroughs and Behind The Scenes and the game wasn't even out for a year which is unbelievable.
Call of Duty 2 is an excellent game and with Call of Duty 3 confirmed, let's hope it can live up to it's expectations.
