Get Ready for some Chinese take-out!!
This title by Koei could be, in conjunction with Dynasty Warriors 5, the best game in the Dynasty Warrior series. In Dynasty Warriors 5: Xtreme Legends you will find 5 new/improved modes, which are Destiny, Xtreme, Legend, Challenge, and Edit

First let us look at Destiny mode, I found that this is why i bought the game, you start out as foot soldier and work your way up through the ranks to become an Officer. At first this mode is boring, because you cannot do much, (ie. 2 or 3 combo highs, no charge) but as you develop your charactor you will be faced with many options such as betraying your current officer and defecting towards another. As you progress you can "buy" skills or have them taught to you. This mode can get tedidous but can be fun, if played correctly

Xtreme mode is a very challenging mode, you start out as any of the charactors (even your Destiny Charactor) and go though missions with them, gaining power, respect, and even other officers. Keep in mind that when you die, you are done, game over. This makes it harder to beat missions because you cant just go and charge into the heart of the enemy. Between missions you can change your active officers under you, save, and look at you items/weapons. before each level you will visit a Blacksmith or a shop, the blacksmith will improve your weapon, but it cost iron which you pick up during levels. at the shop you can buy meat buns (they are very scarce in the levels), up-grades, and officers. you 'money' comes from your point totals at the end of each level. every 5 levels there will be a important battle where you can take your own land, make your kingdom bigger, or protect your kingdom. I found this mode to be the most fun. you never knew when you would die so every battle seemed to be your last. I believe it is almost impossible to beat the Xtreme mode, but im sure im wrong.

Challege mode, just a bunch of mini-games, fun to challege a friend to, high scores, blah blah blah, i didn't use this mode much

Edit mode, you create a officer from nothing, you can control the height and weight of your officer, hair, clothing (more clothing can be unlocked in Destiny mode), and of coarse your weapon. this mode is fun if you like to make your own people.

Last but not least is Legend mode. Legend mode is based on storys about the many characters of Dynasty Warriors series. 18 new maps to play in. this mode was fun because you learned about why people were they way they were in this mode. once you beat all the Legend stages you can go back and play the stage with anyone you want to (before beating it you can only select from 2 or 3 people for each stage)

Before i said in conjuction with Dynasty Warriors 5. If you bought it, ( I did and i have played that for hours) you can insert that data from Dynasty Warriors 5 and put it into Dynasty warriors 5: Xtreme Legends. putting the Dynasty Warriors 5 Disk into the tray after being prompted to you can also use the Musou and Free modes in all other Dynasty Warriors games.

In summary, Dynasty Warriors 5: Xtreme legends is a good game, but can be near perfect with Dynasty Warriors 5 with it.(With Dynasty Warriors 5 it is a 10 out of 10 game) I hope you didn't waste all that money on the previous Dynasty Warrior games. I did :(
