I was given this game as a birthday present and oh boy what a birthday present it was. Burnout Revenge is one of the most exciting racing games ever made, completely mind-blowing sound effects; unmatched sense of speed; tight control; great player-matching and online play. It is 3+ rated game, made by the powerful EA sports. You can indulge in some online play if you wish, with up to 6 players. The game was released September 16th 2005
Burnout 3 was a good game, very hectic, but nothing else is this hectic not even burnout 3. And that’s saying something! The biggest change is the fact that anything coming your way can be shunted away with a big juddering force, vehicle damage has been increased. You will have to fight if you wish to take the lead. Is your rival to close to you? No worries, just take him out! There is more airborne carnage than ever before in this new game. I’m sure you will all be glad to hear for the first time ever you can hit the traffic, buses and everything; nothing will stand in your way.
There’s skill involved in the new overhauled crash mode. You now must master a swing o meter. IF you mess it up you will stall or blow your engine! Uh oh! Hit it right though and you will be launched speeding to destruction. Oh yes! You will have the challenge of the game throwing literally everything at you, boxes, roadwork’s, bins, narrow entries, parked cars…debris lies everywhere and the chaos is crazy. The streets are littered with destructible objects. So the new safety of the outbound lane is more than made up for by the massive rise in danger from the tracks themselves. This may take a while to realise this as each course has so much to learn about it. All the courses require experience of them beforehand in order to succeed when driving on them. Woo!
After a while you will really start to use the traffic checking. At its most basic, hitting cars gives you a boost. Next you will realise hitting them dead on shots them straight into junctions ahead of you. Crashing cross traffic that would otherwise crash you! Shunting foes lets you steel their boost; a well timed shove will finish a rival. For the first time you can pull off vertical takedowns, which looks absolutely incredible, honestly. You will love to do this.
The graphics for burnout revenge are insanely fast, detailed and very pretty. You can see Europe at great speed! Some great sights to witness.
Now, unlocks rely on aggression levels as much as wins, and as you progress through the 11 skill levels – tweaking the new revenge rating from harmless to elite. You will begin to find the crash breaker spreading through the other modes.
The sound is fantastic with a great vehicle racket; the online play is far better than the previous burnout 3 entire party of friends can link up from the first page and go racing as a group – It’ so much simpler to use. It has like the whole game been improved in many small but substantial ways. Nothing has been done for the sake of it. The near endless tweaks and twists to the formula have distilled the essence even further. There’s no doubt that this is better than burnout: 3. It’s not perfect, but genius never is. What it is, is exceptional. It’s right up there with burnout 2 as a stone cold classic. And that really is saying something. This is the best arcade racer available and an absolute must-buy. Maybe a nice birthday idea?
