I think sonic adventure 2 battle is better but they both have their good points. This is the same as the game on the dreamcast, but with a few added extras i think. this time around you can be a whole host of characters, like sonic, tails, knuckles, Big the cat(he's so cool!), Amy, some robot working for eggman. The story is the same as the dreamcast one and as the tv program just released. Basically eggmans trying to take over or destroy the world again, this time with the egg carrier(big spaceship thing) and Chaos, the big blue monster that grows more powerful with chaos emeralds. this blue creature battles sonic and friends a number of times, more powerful each time. This is a real adventure game where you walk around scenes looking for the missions, talking to people, gaining upgrades and killing enemies. I remember a classic bit where i think sonic was racing knuckles to get the most rings in a casino. The bit that was great for me was the different characters. Each has unique abbilties like tails can fly etc that are good. The sotry is long and good in the game and it is made better by depending on which character you are it reveals more bits of the story. Gamma's(the robot) levels rely on shooting things, just like the robot battling scenes in sonic adventure 2 battle. bigs levels are really wierd and i found them difficult to get the hang of. basically hes lost his friend froggy whos eaten a chaos emerald and has grown a tail because of it. gammas missions are usually looking for froggy, as eggman needs the chaos emerald hes eaten. Bigs involve 'fishing' for froggy in nearby lakes and ponds and such. yes, his levels involve maily fishing. You can also catch other fish that give him points as well. Most of the other characters are looking for chaos emeralds, except amy, whos looking for sonic. The game has great gameplay, and the graphics are just above average. They've got the usual sonic sounds in there, which can be good or bad; some like it some dont.
The camera sometimes get stuck, as with most sonic games, but it isnt too annoying. i rented this game twice and completed it within that time. So its quite a short thrill, although i was playing on it a lot. The framerate can sometimes play up as well, which is a shame. The game also includes the popular chao garden, where you can train these weird creatures to race and stuff against others, although i dont think i ever had time to play with that mode much as i had rented it. There was no multiplayer that i was aware of, although there was probobaly multiplayer chao battles with other people with the game or game boy advance game. There was one character i didnt complete it with which was supersonic, u unlock after u completed it with everyone else. i've got some good memorys of missions on top of the egg carrier and fighting chaos, and i think there was a plain flying mission with sonic and tails as well. i remember going into a temple with sonic and fighting this final eggman boss snake thing which took ages. this game has a great storyline and a real adrenaline rush with the sense of speed involved in most missions. Its a real little thriller that you should purchase if you find it cheap. its like sonic adventure 2 battle, but probobaly better gameplay with this one. DX seems shorter though which is a real shame but there is plenty of extras to play through. Please note that Rogue the bat is not in this game, unlike the Tv program.
This game would definatly get 10/10 if it wasnt for the shortness of the story mode.
