The only doubts people should have about buying this game is its shortness. thirteen levels dont last that long, even when they are challenging and take about 15minutes each. Star wars republic commando is a golden game and a absolute must for any star wars fan. its the best first person shooter iv played and the fighting scenes are brilliant, challenging totally fun, realistic(as much as star wasrs can be!) and have an absolutly solid frame rate. there are about 14 weapons and about 5 grenades, but it doesnt matter. each handle brilliantly and look fantastic. the graphics in this game are superb, and you squad are intelligent and fully commandable.
You are an elite republic commando. You are the boss of a group of three others: delta squad. six-two, scorch is the demoltions expert,oh-seven,sev is the agressive sniper, and four-oh, fixer, the proper soldier. each have different personalities and how they fight. your squad talk to one another and have different conversations. you can tell them to stay in a place, attack one enemy press onwards guard you slice a computer get bacta heal someone place explosives get in a turret etc. your squad is a huge element in the game and helps you a lot.
the missions are long and the game has a great storyline. there are three campaigns, geonosis, on a republic assault ship and kasshyk. there are different types of enemies and killing them and commanding your squad feels extremely satisfying. there is a beautiful HUD thats supposed to be from your helmet. you have health of you and your squad mates and enemies and objectives its so cool.
the sound in this game is brilliant with some dramatic songs, great fighting sounds and chatter from people. the online multiplayer is class and once you've completed the game on hard you really feel like you fit in when playing multiplayer. there are plenty of arenas and modes like capture the flag and you can fully customise your character for online and be a commando or a trandoshan. the multiplayer on the other consoles is good but not as good as online, especially when playing with users with a good ping and internet connection.
you can do close range attacks in the game which i love and they splatter blood on your visor which gets cleaned by this laser thing. the graphics are great with rain and blood splattering your visor, crates and boxes andscenery in the background and enemies everywhere. this game also takes a certain level of strategy, but not too much which can be daunting to new comers. the close range attack can be a smack from your gun or a cool little blade that comes from your wrist. it feels great in the heat of battle to just sprint up to a super battle droid and start knifing him. each campaign has a series of levels and a final hard level to get by as well.
As i said the major downside and it is a dissapointing downside is the number of levels, but if replaying the same levels time and time again is ok with you go ahead and buy the game. another downside is that there is no vehicles to go in but still thinking back it would spoil the superb atmosphere and superior feel to the game. this game has so much character and detail and story that it just feels so easy to pick up and play and get immersed in. halfway through the game you will feel so satisfied and a real member of the team, a member your team trusts and respects. the ending is great, if not a little fake, and the game reveals stuff about episode three, stuff that everybody knows about now anyway but hey!receving compliments from your squad feels satisfying and great. the whole game feels so smooth and playable, i really mean it, now the game is cheap, get it. as long as you have a good fast PC and a speedy internet you'l love the game to bits like i did.
