Racing games are the best sport games around as nearly everyone has their favorites. There are some really famous names for racing games that when somebody mentions you immediately know what it is like Project Gotham Racing and Gran Turismo but if I said “TrackMania” you would probably say “What?”
I got this game for my birthday from my dad but doing some research I found out it was a game worth less than £10. I thought I might as well try it as my dad was desperate for me to have a go on it.
The graphics are very good for a budget priced game and the way it creates a racing environment is amazing. Also, some of the ramps and boosts make the game more un life like but they work really well and they also make the game one of it’s own.
You can make your profile to take online with you and you have your own avatar. You can either use the avatars in the game or you can upload your own which is quite good as not many other games offer you the chance to do that.
On Solo mode there are three different modes to choose from. Official Campaign (which is the campaign levels made by the game developers), Community Campaign (which are campaign levels made by other people who have the game) and Single Challenges (where you get to try out different challenges made by the game developers). For the Official Campaign and the Single Challenges you get Bronze, Silver and Gold medals for completing the course in the time given. Bronze is easy, Silver is average and Gold is hard. On the Single Challenge Modes you get given certain amount of pieces which you have to put into the course so you can complete it. These make your brain work more than it does watching Countdown!
There is also Multiplayer Mode where you can race against a friend or you can even race online against other TrackMania players which makes the game’s life span longer. On online mode you keep doing laps and your fastest time gets put on the leader board out of the racers. Then the winner is the person who has the fastest lap.
There is also an Editor Mode where you can build your own tracks, customize your cars, make ghosts and loads more which makes the game better in every way. This is also quite hard to use but once you get used to it, it is alright.
Another nice feature is that you can race in the night or the day which can be annoying if you don’t like racing during the night but is good if you like a bit of difference once in a while.
There is also a Replay Editor to make your replays looks better which is very good as you can add text, colour and more which I love as you can show them off to your friends. I made one of my worst races look good by adding a bit of colour to it and a little bit of text.
With this game you also get a free Demo Disk which will have Pro Rugby Manager 2, Freedom Force vs The Third Reich and TrackMania Sunrise which is alright but not much but what did you expect?
Overall, I would recommend Track Mania: Sun Rise to any person of any age as it is just so addictive and fun. Do not be put off the price as this game is a great example of what we have never seen before. A very good budget priced game for the PC.
