Having been an avid Football Manager player over the years I have always ended up with the championship manager series. That said I had a lull for a few years and when I returned after the purchasre of CM2006 I found myself quiet undecided. There is a lot too like, and some to dislike and it is here that I start. I was initially disapointed to find the International Manager option was missing but a recent patch has rectified this. There are limitations when interacting with your players. If I want to leave them out of the side because there condition is low, I have no option to explain this when telling the player why I dropped him other than because he was out muscled in his last match. this may not have been the case and so inadequate. I am not a fan of the little men on the pitch simulating your goals etc. The men are small and of a poor graphics standard. The game has survive on the information bar style for a long time, and I think it is the desire to add something new so the game sells that brings features such as these. I think the game would suffer none for its removal and hopefully in the furture we can see a move back to the older style deliver of our match information. Either that or seriously improve the standard of the graphics and make it slightly more realistic. I found the instruction booklet that came with the game a little brief, especially if you are new to the game. I had not played Championship Manager for 4 years so when I returned recently I saw many changes. If you have never played then the booklet offers little in the way of tips or advice. I found myself constantly trawling the booklet to find out snippets of info. Why did my players have orange and white arrows next to their names. Nothing in the book to explain this. Some may say this is common sense, but surely we should be ensuring people understand fully the gameing experience they have just bought. That said, I find the game hard to put down once it is on. So my words may appear to contradict this, and therefore seem harsh. They are the only faults I could find, and they are personal. I think overall the game is exciting, very difficult and annoyingly addictive. Just ask my wife !!! There is much more information available to you as a manager, thus helping you to do all you can to affect your teams performance. There are many more players, teams and staff members for you to search through. The game flows freely, and you have a constant stream of informative news bulletins. Picking your team is definately a challenge, but so it should be. There are many factors to be taken into consideration, and there are many more options available to you during the game. This is in stark contrast to the early Championship Manager days. The game is definately challenging, well I find it so. It is good to think you can have a good hardy battle, man versus machine, and when you do succeed it is often as if you have won the trophy yourself. I like a challenge, and would not change the difficulty level. i look forward to adding the International Manager patch and the other improvements this will bring. I hope the developers for Championship Manager 2007 canvass for public needs and then try to implicate the wishes into what is already the eagerly awaited sequel.
