One Word - WOW!
People comment on how they knew this was an amazing game from 30 seconds in but to tell you the truth, I know it from the moment I put it in my PS2. Me being the gaming n00b that I am thought it'd be great if I got it exactly when it game out, unfortunately I couldn't be a*sed to get out of bed and get it so I sent a text to both my father and mother to get it for me. I went back asleep, woke up a few hours later and within a few moments of my eyes adjusting to daylight, I noticed a small rectangular box at the end of my bed. Liek t'is Z0mFg! Anyway, enough about how lazy I am, on to the nitty gritty that makes the game what it is...
Rockstar have really outdone themselves with the third in the PS2 series of Grand Theft Auto with the fantastic Grand Theft Auto: San Andreas. The entire game is three times bigger than the previous installment; Grand Theft Auto: Vice City, with a sh*load more options to do such as going to the gym to work on your muscles all the way down to getting the tattoo at the bottom of your back. The choice and range you can have is unbelievable.
To be honest I don't actually know what to write so I'll just put it into a list of things which made me give up a whole week of my life just so I could play it...
Vehicles - Who can forget them, they're what makes the game. This time round Rockstar have added a few additional extras which you can only get on certain missions such as the 'SWAT Tank'. Most of the cars are fully customisable which means you can turn the average sedan into a nitrous fuelled street racer capable of turning heads as you drive around Los Santos.
Missions - The range of missions you can do is just... wow. There's times when you feel it's too easy so you don't concentrate as much and then BANG! You hit a car at a T-junction sending your car-chase into a shatters. It's that which makes the game so enjoyable and time consuming. Side-Missons have gotten much harder with added depth and 9 times out of 10 they're actually linked to the main story which makes them easier to complete.
Radio - Who can forget the famous 'Flash FM', the radio stations are all different, you can either self indulge yourself listening to people arguing about topics such as SA politics whilst your taking a cruise along the highways and by-ways of the city. Or, if your like me, you can just rock out whilst riding your mountain bike off the side of mountains... no matter what your tastes are there's always one there which will suit your tastes.
Graphics - The graphics are what makes San Andreas so impressive, sure there's the odd glitch here and there but what do you expect from a game so huge! The best graphical part from my point of view is the detail on the tattoos if/when you get one, you can make out the faces/words etc really easily and can tell straight away what they're meant to look like/represent.
Well seeing as I've ran out of things to say, this is where my review comes to an end. All I can say to you is simply buy it, living the life of Carl Johnson in downtown Los Santos is not something you'll forget, if even taught me a few life skills along the way, the most important being, "Love your family and friends, they won't be there forever...". For that reason I am giving Grand Theft Auto: San Andreas 11111/10 but it only goes up to 10 so I guess that'll have to do.
