Grand Theft Auto: San Andreas is an AMAZING game! No doubt it will have been said many times before, but there really is always something new to discover each time you play it, some little thing that you never noticed the first time, or the second time, or the third! :-)
After his mom is murdered, CJ return's home after living in Liberty City for a few years. Once he gets back, things aren't going to be the same again. What start's off as trying to get respect for the Grove Street gang turns into something that'll change CJ's life for ever.
Like the previous GTA's, you're thrown right into the game from the beginning. After the brief cutscene for the basic storyline, you're off! And the game never really let's you go after that.
And again, like previous GTA's, you don't want to do one of the main story missions? No problem! Head down to the pool hall, sink a few. Head over to one of the basketball courts, try and get a three pointer! Practice your shooting at one of the shooting ranges in the Ammunation shops! Heck, there is even virtual horse racing at a bookie's in one of the city's!
But if you don't want to build up your money, you can build up your respect level. By doing this you can recruit more members to your gang, "Grove Street 4 life!" and in turn, help to take over more parts of the city. It's all about respect!! To help build up your respect, you need to look the part. Head over to the barbers to get that proper gangster hairstyle. Then head to the tatoo parlour for that tatoo that'll strike fear into the hearts of rival gang members!! Also remember to head to the gym to help make that body looked so ripped, ain't nobody want to mess with you!
But let's face it, we've all got the blood thirsty maniac in us... so just go and beat someone up and take their money! My personal favourite is to walk right up behind them and then take out your handgun in blast them in the back of the head! Does that make me bad?
But maybe your not a bloody thirsty maniac? Well in that case maybe the Vigilante missions are for you. Take over a police bike or car and find those bad men and then take out your gun and.... oh wait... maybe that does make you a maniac then... Oh well, never mind! They had it coming anyway!
When your not in the city, blasting people in the head with a shotgun or beating people up till they're blue, black and/or purple, you can always take to the road and head into the country. Moutain bike, dirtbike, quad. The choice is up to you! There is even the chance to take control of a combine harvester!
Now I've heard of people complaining that there isn't much to do in the country. I beg to differ. There is lots of things to do, but the one of the best things to try is the race on Mount Chiliad. And if you have the parachute try driving off the edge of the mountain on the bike and then releasing the parachute... you'll have fun!
Now this is the last GTA to be made with the current game engine. The next one, GTA4 (you would think it would be GTA6, wouldn't you?), will be made with an entirely new one. For me, it's a fitting end to this part of the GTA world and I for one can't wait until Autumn 2007 to see what Rockstar have got in store for us then!
Who knows, GTA: World? It could happen!
