This game really did surprise me after I bought it at a very cheap price at my local GAME. I found that it started off slowly but soon became a game that I could not put down!
When I get stuck on games I generally carry on for a couple of weeks trying to complete the level before moving on to another game and forgetting about the one that I’m stuck on for some time. This did not happen with 'mafia' because although some levels are hard, you still feel that they are not impossible and feel the need to carry on. This is one of the few action games that I have actually enjoyed enough to complete.
I found that the storylines were compelling and that you really did feel that you were in the 1930's. I also felt that the car-game play was much better than I expected.
Your character is a taxi-driver who in your first mission must take the head of the mafia back to his hideout. After that you are accepted into the family and must do various jobs for Mr Salieri in order to progress to the top of the mafia circuit
There is also a very good twist to the plot in the end both for the final mission and afterwards.
There is however no chance to travel the streets after you have completed the game. another good feature is that you are able to replay any mission that you have previously completed at any time, this makes 'mafia' an easy game to go back to after you have completed it and not have to play right from the start again.
Although this game has been labelled by many people "a copy of the GTA series" I feel that there is a lot more depth and thought put into the plot
This is a game which I’m sure like me you'll want to play over and over again.
