In Grand Theft Auto San Andreas you play Carl Johnson or ‘CJ’ as he is known to his friends.

The story begins with you returning to los Santos after CJ's mother is killed in a gang war. Once you return however you are soon thrust back into the life of a gang member in an attempt to change the ever increasing violence in San Andreas.

This edition of GTA is bigger and better than any before it with four very different islands.

You begin in Los Santos and once you've finished there you move onto Flint County, San Fierro and finally Las Venturas.

Each island is very different:

Los Santos is the gang land capital with many different ghettos.

Flint County has only a very small town with the basic ammunation store and restaurant. The rest is just countryside.

San Fierro is where a lot of the businesses are located and is a very built up area.

Las Venturas is a lot like las Vegas with its casinos and like las Vegas, Nevada also has a very large desert with an off limits area.

CJ's friends at 'the grove' (where you live) are Sweet (CJ's brother), Ryder and Big Smoke.

There are many people during the course of the game in which you have to do different missions for.

First you start off doing some normal missions just to get you started before having to do missions for Sweet, Ryder, Big Smoke and a whole host of people that you meet during the course of the game. including the cops!

A fantastic new option on GTA San Andreas is being able to swim. There are also many other features available, like being able to buy your own clothes, choosing your own haircut and getting tattoos.

You are also able to go into more buildings than ever before. It is up to you to make sure that CJ eats enough food and builds up enough strength and stamina. This will make the missions easier. You can also improve skill levels of your shooting. You can visit bars and play pool. This is a good feature as it gives you a chance to have a break from all the missions

Like previous GTA games there are also a lot of missions that you can do yourself at any time if you feel you need to make some extra cash or just have fun. You can get a fire truck and find fires to put out, or you may decide to take a taxi and take people to their chosen destination, valet parking, courier different items, take a police car and hunt down the villains of San Andreas, help injured people by picking them up in an ambulance or simply go to a casino in Las Venturas and gamble. You can even hijack a train and drive it around the different stations picking up people.

With every new edition of GTA it happens and it has happened again. The amount of cars has increased and is better and more enjoyable than ever! A new feature is that you can now not only fly helicopters but also planes.
As for the weapons, they are much the same as in the previous editions.

The game also controls very well and will allow you to do much more than previous versions. You can interact with passers-by in the street and if you're lucky they may compliment you, but more than likely you will be met by a torrent of abuse.

In conclusion, if you've enjoyed the other editions or if this is your first in the GTA series this is a great game to buy and will keep you entertained for months.
