Fifa World Cup Germany 2006 looks like the perfect game for all sport lovers, in the shop-window. It isn't really - it has the same graphics as Fifa 06. There are some minor changes:

New music;
New boots;
Different set-out;
Updated national teams.

Ok, so it's not an exact copy of FIFA 06, but it's as near to it as you can get.

On with the game, FIFA World Cup 2006 is the perfect 5 minute power-play game. The loading times are quite quick and the setting mean that you can play a game from 2 minutes a half to 10 minutes. Sticking to the settings, you can also change the difficulty from Amateur, Semi Pro, Professional and World Class. Injuries and bookings can be turned on and off and the auto-switching can be turned up or down.

The music includes The Black Eyed Peas, Lady Sovereign, and Sergio Mendes (and a whole load of other people).

The game selections are:

Global Challenge
My FIFA World Cup TM
Multiplayer
EA SPORTS TM Extras

On the World Cup mode you have a selection of starting from the begining or from the finals. On Preliminaries mode you then choose one continent. Then, in the continent you have a selection of national teams in groups (the groups can be mixed up). Europe has 8 groups and little Oceania has 1 but either way you have to play the same amount of games.

the gameplay is very good. Excellent graphics, controls and options of play make the game very enjoyable and , in most cases, very addictive. The player details are up to date and thier rating are very good as well. A lot of attention has been payed looking at the options in live gameplay. After you have sang your national anthem and lined up, the fun really starts. The older versions of FIFA all were able to pass, shoot, tackle and lob. FIFA World Cup gives you the option of passing, shooting, lobbing, tackling, playing the ball in front of your player (called through ball), sprinting, walking, skills, tricks, and even a bit of cheekyness. One of the best changes from FIFA 06 is the camera. It feels like your playing a completely differnent game (while it is very nearly a copy). There are no stutering in the gameplay so you can play enjoyable and smooth football. You can change your team so that it is the more successful World Cup Team for your country or the superstars. Whichever you choose I can garentee you will love this game. It is quite hard for fans of other football and soccer games to get settled into this games as the camera veiw is different from all other football games. But after 1 or 2 matches you will love it. For new comers to football games it will only take you 5 or so matches to get settled.

The pause menu options are also very good. You can watch an instant replay, change your team, change the camera veiw, change the game settings, view the match facts, or find out stuff about the game from EA SPORTS.

The set-pieces are very unique and new. They are (thankfully) very straight forward and keep the game running smoothly.

Global Challenge is a long challenge in which you beat every national team by a certain challenge. Like scoring 2 goals or getting 500 free football points. I think Global Challenge gets quite boring when you play it for a while because you have to play with the same team and gets repeated challenges. it seems to be a time waster, something to make you play the game for 3 hours more.

The best mode is, by far, The World Cup.

Overall I rate this game 9 out of 10.

Buy it.
