Only played a demo version and its a bit of an advanced Elite clone but with - to be fair - its own personality. Clearly updated graphics help it along (as does the mouse-based flying interface which makes your craft easier to fly than using a joystick and easier to shoot down your opponents as well). It follows the tried-and-tested formula of all Elite clones - trade a bit, kill some pirates, earn money and build better ship to trade more and kill more pirates while solving the big mystery of who killed your dad. But it has a lot of its own ideas (like having to fly into asteroids to find alien goop to improve your ship) which actually work quite well. Some missions move away from the norm (e.g. secretly listening into corporate meetings and selling the information back to the rebels) - keeping the challenges fresh. Overall I like it a lot - although it may take all my spare time from now on!
