The Sims have many games. They all have been popular. I never saw the fascination in them to be honest. Though I played The Sims, Sims Bustin’ Out and The Urbz. And my opinion still stayed pretty much the same. Here is what I think of the Urbz.
Well what I can gather from the story mode is that you are a person (boy or girl whichever you choose) that has just moved into town and looking for new friends. Well it starts by picking your character: if it’s a boy or girl, what place they’d fit into most, hairstyle, faces, noses etc. Then your adventure begins with you getting to grips with your new surroundings. Though its going to be hard. With little furniture in your grotty apartment and with no work will you ever get back on the road of popularity.
Well this game is a like the title implies a sim game. This means it kind of based on real life. The basis of this particular Sims game is all based on how popular and social you are. To become popular you must first dress to impress, and interact with your environment. Though it gets rather tedious as you need to be relatively happy and whenever you are just getting on with someone, you will always need the toilet or you need some fun. You earn money by simply going to the jobs set in the different environments. Like in the China Town part you will need to cut sushi and in the skateboarding area you will need to perform various tricks to impress the onlookers. Though the process of doing the job is repetitive and gets quite boring.
You can also change your style and appearance on the Urbz. When you start and area you will always be pointed to the various key points. In each area there are places to go where all the popular people from that district go. These are quite clear to see as a bouncer is on the door. You have to be invited into the place before you can enter. There are also missions in the game when you complete you get bonus items which you are very good. As you progress through the game, you will change your apartment getting better things more rooms etc. Also using the money you get from jobs you will buy stuff to improve your house. These include, Furniture, Kitchen, bathroom. In this game its all about your social life. So basically you all have more social options than the other games. The only thing which is good is power social moves which are special things which boos your popularity up.
Graphically the Urbz isn’t that good. I mean with clunky graphics up close but the environments are very well polished. Though the movement sometimes when you speed it up is completely out of tune and sometimes it slows down and the PS2 goes into overdrive (though that could be my PS2). Overall graphics are ok with bad character graphics and animation but it makes up for it in the environments.
Sound is a load of crap to be honest. With the characters not speaking English for once. And the music not being the best even though its from Black Eyed Peas. So im really disappointed with the sounds in this game.
Overall this game is average. Its nothing special. I would only recommend this game if you were renting it out. Though it’d have to be cheap, even then it might be a waste of money. So not the best result for the Sims games, though this is my opinion you might love the game.
