FIFA 2004

The ultimate football game is back! FIFA 2004 is now on the X-box and is better, smoother, and more realistic than previous games in this series. Win your way to the top and enter cup competitions like the FA cup and Carling cup. Choose your team, manage it, and beat other teams. This game is more than just a game that promises to totally destroy the defences of the opposition.

When I went out to buy a new game for my X-box, I chose FIFA 2004. I was stunned and very impressed with the game. It was very addictive to play. I immediately thought that this game is the best football game ever to play on a console, since ISS Pro’ 98 was on the old Play station console; in fact FIFA 2004 on the X-box could beat it hands down.

FIFA 2004’s graphics were so perfect it is like watching the football on the telly. Photorealism is what I would describe the graphics to be like. To sum up they were smooth and good looking, a football game as got to have impressive graphics and FIFA 2004 does have this good quality to be a graphical masterpiece.

Having listened to FIFA 2004’s stunning sound effects I have to say that the fans in the background certainly give this game atmosphere. I liked how they would ‘boo’ to the opposition if they fouled one of the players on the pitch. I also liked it when the commentators would speak if there was a fantastic goal scored. I thought that this was so realistic; it was like going to a football match. Top marks for the level of quality of the stunning SFX.

There was no music while playing the game, but in the main menu there is some background music in the game. Before I played the game I listened to the music. It was very atmospheric to get you in the mood of the game, but it did eventually drove me mad while I was configuring the set up of my team, fortunately I could turn the music down or off to stop the music from making me lose my concentration.

At first I thought the game was far too hard to master, but that was because I didn’t really know the controls yet. I looked at the instructions booklet to learn the controls and eventually the controls were easy.

I played FIFA 2004 on amateur setting and I found it a challenge, then I played it on semi-pro, and decided that I had no chance of winning a game. This game is certainly far more challenging than any other football game that I have played in the past and is guaranteed to keep you on your toes. The game play is stunning in every way because before you start playing you can play a practice mode which allows you to get used to the controls and work on more advanced shot which will help you in the game.

You can also play a career mode, which I thought was totally cool and you can choose your favourite team from a wide range of teams, you can select a division, you can configure your team and check up for any statistics and information, which will help you process in the game and if you are still unsatisfied, which is impossible, then you can choose a cup competition that you would like to play for. There is also an option which allows you to play international football which puts ISS PRO’98 to shame. This game is so good it plays like a dream and it is so versatile.

This game is excellent value for money because it as so many options that it is definitely worth shelling out a massive £30 to play is game and it is a game which can be played over and over again and you will not lose any interest in the game.

You can play against a friend by using another controller and up to four players can play each other in the game. FIFA 2004 supports dual shock which works out well for the game because it just adds to the feel of the game. If you are doing a career in the game you can save your progress. This is a good idea which saves the frustration of trying to remember a code to access where you last left off in the game. The only real flaw about this game is not being able to understand the ‘not so user friendly’ menu screens because the menu buttons are not labelled in the game to tell you what you are highlighting and selecting when trying to set up a game, this can annoy!

A game full of promises and it is a game that delivers top class game play. This game can talk but it can also do the walk. A classic and a must for serous gamers buy it now; you will be a fool not to!
