Let me first discuss the first option menu, your civilisation choice;I was extremely dissapointed when I found out that I could not play as the carthaginians(THE COOLEST FACTION). Let me just tell all of you now that you can only select a Roman Faction.
The strategic map is beatiful and detailed. The world seems so much larger than Medieval Total War. In medieval you just pick up your army and drop it half a globe on another province. Now, you have to embark, travel during several turns and then you can dissembark. Very realistic!! Only one comment, I'm afraid that because you no longer 'occupy' a province but merely a spot on it, it could happen that 'armies' of just one unit of peasents disrupts your entire commercial flow and you have to go chase them away one by one. I know this is realistic but it is also very frustrating.
The Battles on the other hand are AMAZING. Instead of solid blocks of troops as seen in medieval, now your units bend and lose cohesion when contacted by the enemy. Those of you unfamilliar to the other Total War games probably don't know what i mean. The battles are a lot like the BBC series Time Commanders. You have complete control of the army that you have got together, which is extremely exciting. The landscape is just too good to be true. There are also reinforcements. If they are around, they are placed on the map and controlled by the AI.
I think that this is a fantastic game which all Total War fans definitely MUST HAVE. And for all the rest of you, only buy if you like strategy games.
