This is most definitely the best game I have played on the 360 to date. I can also say that its the best 3rd Person shooter I have played full stop.
The game itself make the best of a variety of genres.
- Shoot'em - and do you have to.
- Tactical - on some levels its not just a straight blast. On harder skill levels you need to use cover.
- Robotic Warfare - The first game I have seen that really captures Manga style robotic warfare.
- Platform - I am not talking Super Mario Bros, but having to use grapple hook and cable to climb an ice mountain why fighting swarms of bugs.
- Boss Fights - Yep proper boss fights at the end of the levels (although I found the earlier bosses harder than the latter - which may put people off).
- Save Points/Checkpoints - Do you HATE the games that make you play an entire level again to get to the boss thats just squished you underfoot. Not this one get to the boss and you restart at the boss everytime.
- Innovation - Setting a time limit on based on your energy which you can replenish by killing bugs. Its been done before (what hasnt) but in an icewilderness?
The Game also seems to make good use of the hardware
- Graphics watch the snow fall around the character and your feet crunch through the snow (and then the foot prints fill again behind you).
- Rumble Pack - did not get these to begin with eg my hands dont need a massage each time something blows up. However this game actually makes good use of the rumble feature giving effects weight.
My only complaint was it was over too quicky. Also cant comment on the multiplayer as never gave it a go.
