The Legend of Zelda: The Windwaker is a great addition to an already wonderful series. Though the games graphics are cartoonier then the other games in the popular Zelda franchise it offers a lot more than cartoonish action and humor. Beginning on a small island with a simple mission: to rescue your sister Ariel the game gets more and more detailed with a confusing and twisted but easy to follow plot line. From simple tasks like finding and buying a sail so you and your ship can sail to further islands to immensely hard challenges like fighting off bats on a moving platform while trying to shoot an arrow in the ideas of a statue to comical yet hard challenges like taking over the mind of a statue in order to bounce it across a bridge around hazards the game offers a lot of gameplay. I would say a minimal gameplay time of 12 hours and that is only if you are a very fast thinker and a great swordfighter. The game stays on the basic lines of what is expected from a Zelda game, with Ganon and the Triforce and so on but offers much more complexity due to an abundance of additions. The largest of all is the very free roaming maps and humongous ocean with various islands scattered throughout it. Each island has importance, some being important places to the plot line like the holder of sacred gems or special items to simple things like places to pick up a few rupees or find some buried treasure. Another large addition is the amount of great new characters and enemies. Some characters are friends like Grandma and The King of the Red Lions and even the pretend fairy Tingle other prove to be some of your worst nightmares like the Giant Bird that comes out of nowhere and swoops up your sister or the extremely hard to beat armored Darknuts or the large Moglins carrying larger spears. The items are also a bit changed but mostly for the better. With old favorites like the Boomerang and Bow to new variations on old items like the Windwaker, a musical wand that can cast magical and powerful spells, remind anyone of a little item called the “Oricana”? In short the Windwaker is a great game with good camera controls, replay value, decent graphics, and a wonderful plot line this game will give you an unforgettable gameplay experience whether you are an old fan or a newcomer to the Zelda series which is why I rate this game a 9 out of 10.
