In August of 1964 an American surveillance vessel got attacked in what became known as the Tonkin Gulf incident. From that moment, the United States became involved in the war with North Vietnam.
During the air war with North Vietnam, the United States conducted three seperate air operations: Rolling Thunder, Linebacker, and Linebacker II. The Rolling Thunder campaign lasted from 1965 to 1968 and was the longest of the air operations. Operation Linebacker took place in spring of 1972, with Linebacker II taking place in December of 1972.
Wings Over Vietnam PC recreates the intense air combat experience in the skies over North Vietnam at the height of the air campaign during the Vietnam War. Fly in historical missions from the Rolling Thunder campaign of 1965-1968 to the hard-hitting blows of the 1972 Linbacker II operations. Fight your way through Vietnamese air defenses during the Christmas B-52 bombing campaign, the air battle that brought North Vietnam to the edge of defeat.
